Review: 'ROYAL WE, THE'
'All The Rage/L’Enfant Terrible'

-  Label: 'Geographic'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '24th September 2007'-  Catalogue No: 'GEOG32 (7'

Our Rating:
Glasgow art-rock slackers THE ROYAL WE make their debut on Geographic with this stylophonic hand-clapper.

Rapid-fire vocal delivery rhymes with the nursery as the stick-tapping surfer harmonies blend with bubblegum sensibilities. Yet conspiratorial laughter at the beginning seems to confirm this as a piss-take before we've started - despite the tight display of percussion.

What’s throwaway about this record is also where the six-piece play to their strengths (simplistic sentiment and breezy sunshine melodies), but both this and the the twin-vocal, military driven flip-side, ‘L’Enfant….’ play safely into the hands of what is..ahem, a long established style, shall we say?

Perhaps this should bring me nicely to the single's title?

If one hears another band get favourably compared to Belle & Sebastian, right?
