Review: 'SHERMANS, THE'
'CALLING IT WRONG'

-  Label: 'Platform'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: 'October 2007'-  Catalogue No: 'FORM001'

Our Rating:
Every scene has it's forerunners. The bands that will either earn a long-lasting respect through sheer brilliance and trail-blazing, or those that shock the world with their attitudes and behaviours. They can define era's and fashions and be synonymous with how we remember those days.

At the same time, there will always be bands like The Shermans. Nice riffs, solid tunes, but they're not going to make you want to go mental in HMV either. 'Calling It Wrong' at first just sounds like a bland indie tune – somewhere in between Feeder and Gomez. Two or three listens and it's a bit more distinctive – it's a nice tune; a definite foot-tapper. There's a hook that might get stuck in your head, but it's hard to say if you'll remember the name in a year's time.

It's not adding anything that hasn't been done in indie music before, but it's not taking anything away either. Someone, somewhere will be taking their first liking to guitar music, and this may just help them on the way.
