Let it be known; Lyla Foy makes very dreary music. It’s plinky plonky pop in the vein of Spektor et al but even a comparison like that is just lazy and totally unsuitable. Every song on Ms Foy’s 3 track sampler sounds like a watered down half arsed take the likes of Kate Nash/ Regina Spektor’s kooky-but-loveable pop. ‘Back & Forth’ is nice enough, but if there’s any word I hate using when reviewing music, it’s ‘nice’. There isn’t much else to say; if you're into that sort of featherlight acoustic pop there might be something for you here. A standout track? Let's go with 'Silly Me'.
