There is something rather pleasant about 'Bold Street,' the twenty-first century lullaby from Eugene McGuiness. It's so unique, you can even forgive him the bit to the tune of 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.' Overloading songs with modern references can sometimes be excruciating (see Reverend and the Makers), but this tale of the high street is done in a pleasant way, that makes the sex and the vomit seem almost enticing. If cynicism can be done with a smile, then all the better for it.
Imagine Arcade Fire calming it down a little bit. This sounds like an ensemble effort. It's well produced, it's melodic and it works very well. The 'woaaaaaah's' aren't overplayed and add to the overall greatness of the songs. The live show will probably be a treat. Lump them in with Los Campesinos and we have a new scene on our hands.
