Correcto's single 'Joni' is a pretty typical example of the indie-punk that has become popular in the last four or five years, particularly in Britain. It's hardly surprising, considering the fact that all four band members are drawn from the Glasgow indie scene (Paul Thomson also drums for Franz Ferdinand, and Patrick Doyle was in The Royal We) and the band is signed to 'Domino'.

Like the Franz, and also their label-mates 'Sons & Daughters, 'Joni' displays that propensity for the jerky sort of rock that's supposed to make you want to flail your arms around. It's short, snappy and quite good fun. The lyrics are pretty nonsensical ('I would eat a fish eye/ to have you by my side') and its ramshackle nature adds to its charm. The b-side 'Wasting Time' is more of the same, but feels a bit plodding. On top of this, Danny Saunders's voice veers just a little too close to the 'out-of-tune' kind. On the whole though, it's fun, doesn't take itself too seriously and is all over before five minutes are up. Rather throwaway, but don't expect anything innovative and you'll enjoy it.
