Our Rating:
From north of the border, DELTA MAINLINE offer us yet another way to tap into Scotland’s weird and wonderful pop tradition. The Edinburgh band are releasing an EP in 2008, and this absorbing and beautifully-produced track will almost certainly take centre stage.

A myriad of influences can be heard as a hail of backwards tracks disintegrates, leaving a gentle acoustic and nonstop-frail vocals to trail headlong into a piano led melancholy that’s alive with brass sounds and scraping strings.

Cimematic qualities give ‘Here Comes The Light’ an epic feel and the snare/cymbal heavy drums make the rolling tune stumble, then fall - headlong into a pit of orchestrated darkness.

There’s a powerful urgency at work, and the swirling pull of the music is strong and stormlike as it crashes towards the inevitable ending. Only four minutes long, over before you know it, this stands alone as a stunning preview of the forthcoming EP, as well as a huge reason to give their material a listen. Fantastic stuff!
