Review: 'RECORD DEPARTMENT'
'Demo'

-  Label: 'Self released'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'November 2007'

Our Rating:
"If you think I'm fine, I'm definitely not" - lyric to 'Peace & Quiet'

These four likely lads (3 guys & one gal) met and formed at Leeds University in 2006 with the express aim of pooping the pop punk hedonism of their local scene by choosing good old fashioned doubt and darkness as their subject matter.

Not the most original of strategies, perhaps, but then again there's always a market for doom and gloom merchants.

The band may be burdened by urban claustrophobia but they rock along quite brightly all the same. Jonny Price's anxiety fueled vocals sound more defiant than despondent - "this dog will have its day" is his assertion on 'Great Expectations' - the best of the three songs showcased on this demo EP. The other two tunes are 'Peace & Quiet' and 'White Lies'.

All the tracks are strong enough to count them as a name to look out for.

On 'Peace & Quiet' they talk of being "permanently confused" but as far as their music goes, they sound as though they know exactly where they're going.
