Review: 'Elliot Minor'
'Still Figurin' Out'

-  Label: 'Repossession/Warner Bros'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '28th January 2008'

Our Rating:
As a self confessed ‘emo kid’ my younger sister’s favourite band is those new kids on the block (no…not them) Elliot Minor. I’m slightly confused then when I press play and gentle, almost Mandarin style melody floats out of the speakers and gentle vocals swirl over them, then…ah ha…the guitars kick in and those trade mark melancholy vocals burst into life. Full of chugging guitars and fast paced drum beats Elliot Minor’s second single is, from what I can gather, pretty typical of what ‘the kids of today’ are looking for in their music. Enough tune and melody to dance along to, but with the rock undertone that makes them feel rebellious.

Emo? I still don’t fully understand it but the moody photo on the single sleeve, the lyrics which tell of lost relationships and going separate ways are pretty much how I would imagine it to be. So, not my cup of tea but it has its fans and the band are pretty enough in a long fringed, teenage way. McFly for the moodier kids? Hell yeah.

Oh, and much as you would think they were judging from the accents and the music video, they’re not American. They’re from York.
