Review: 'STEERS, THE'
'JULIA'

-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: 'May 2008'

Our Rating:
It’s possible that I am now completely prejudiced against songs that are named after women. Before I even put this song on, I’m expecting some lame-duck indie-by-numbers ‘anthem,’ just because it’s called ‘Julia.’ And what do you know? We have a perfectly okay, but totally unremarkable song – it’s an indie standard, very much from the we’ve heard it all before stable. It's somewhere between The Killers and The Wombats. Everything about the song is average – average lyrics, average tune. It’s like many other indie pop songs released in recent years – slightly earnest, a bit broken hearted and trying so hard to be charming.

There is nothing here that is going to change your life, and you wouldn’t notice it particularly if it were played on XFM. I didn’t really take the time to find out what it was about, I kind of guessed. It’s totally inoffensive, but that’s not necessarily a good thing. I predict I will forget even reviewing this band within the month.
