Kick Box Riot are one of the best kept secrets of the 2008 indie pack; One part We Are Scientists, one part Hundred Reasons (before it all went tits up) 'Seeing Ghosts' is an excellent introduction to this fine young band. Voted Best Newcomer Band by listeners of BBC Radio 1 Wales, KBR are the latest to crop up from the famous Cardiff scene that has brought us the likes of FFAF in recent years.
Without doubt the record's highlight must be Fear of Change. Epic chorus build-up is matched by the winding riffery and wrought vocals that somehow produce a classic pop song. The production too really does the band plenty of favours...
The trick to this mini album’s ability to keep you hungering for the next track is the way everything is concise but never thin and accessible but never cheesy. Stick this on repeat.
