Review: 'HOLLY ROSE'
'APPLE'

-  Label: 'WHISKY'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: 'July 21st 2008'

Our Rating:
“I fell for you, like an apple from the trees.”

High school poetry masquerading as pop music, folks? This is the second single from Holly Rose, and you can expect the unexpected. If the unexpected is some second rate Eternal b-side bland pop number, complete with syrupy production, soul-destroying backing vocals and repeat-to-fade chorus. It’s music designed and created in a studio, built to be performed with a backing track, perhaps even lip-synched.

Same old story – she has a nice voice. But there are millions of nice voices out there, all jostling to become couple’s first songs at their weddings. But there are only so many couples out there, and even less who have had the lobotomy’s required to be moved in any way by this song. It’s not so kind to attack music from genre’s that I’m not fond of, but I’d always acknowledge innovation or anything of interest. Of which there is nothing here.

I can imagine people’s kids singing this badly, and that’s about the level of recognition it should expect.
