There was a time when it seemed that Black Rebel Motorcycle Club might change my life. Turned out it was all hype and at best they had a few good tunes, but generally made average rock with plenty of distortion. At best, it sounds mildly influenced by Depeche Mode (in that it has a bit of a beat, but in a gloomy fashion), but in reality it’s just influenced by ‘songwriting for dummies.’
B-side ‘Come Together’ sounds like something even Oasis wouldn’t release. Strained vocals and a horribly bland chorus of “Come together, come together now,” which really means nothing. I respect musicians, and I respect the art of being a musician, and I feel for the ones trying to do something special when they have to share a title with this sort of copycat churn-out bollocks, which is akin to musical identity fraud.
I can’t imagine this was satisfying to make, let alone listen to. In a pile of review CD’s that is decidedly mediocre, this is as dull as the next band.
