Review: 'OLD ROMANTIC KILLER BAND'
'LOVERS PASS'

-  Label: 'Bad Sneakers Records'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'November 10 2008'

Our Rating:
"Lovers Pass" is the first track to be released from the OLD ROMANTIC KILLER BAND's debut album "The Swan with Two Necks", due for release in December. It's heavy on loosely tuned guitar and Greg Holland's aggressive drumming and has big dollops of tuneful blues singing. The big big bonus is some subtle slide guitar that shows up half way in. Harry Johns even gives half a whiff of the lovely guitar sound from JEFF BUCKLEY's "Last Goodbye".

As a single its much more primitive punk that that whiff might suggest. It's exciting, brash and perfectly in your face. The defiant lack of an apostrophe keeps things ambiguous. They're a band you're either with or against. Harry howls "I have so much love to give you", and It sounds urgent. It's ready and waiting.

The tune itself can be downloaded for nowt (bar the typing of of an email address) from http://www.theoldromantickillerband.com/freesingle.
