Review: 'DRIVE BY STAR'
'DRIVE BY STAR'

-  Label: 'Self released (www.rafepearlman.com/)'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: 'September 2008'

Our Rating:
Drive By Star is a four piece band led by Seattle based Rafe Pearlman.

The refrain of 'Holiday' (of which there are two versions) is a fair indication of this ep's dominant mood which I would summarise as one of dreamy, romanticism.

"It's a big old world, so full of love", sings Rafeman as a pick up line to a woman he has his eye on.

Here , and still more so 'Hello', his voice is like that of a laid back Jeff Buckley.

This Is Life' is a track which can also be found of Pearlman's solo album 'The Well Sessions' where it is reworked as a blues number. Here it's played as a straight pop song to blend in with the calm, melodic feel of the other tracks.

Overall, the 5 songs make for an easy listening experience to make it an ideal chill out record to have on standby while sipping wine on a balmy Summer night.

6 tracks , playing time - 28.14 mins
