Review: 'SLASHED SEAT AFFAIR'
'FORGET YOU'

-  Label: 'Forget You Records (www.slashedseataffair.com)'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'March 2009'

Our Rating:
Listening to Slashed Seat Affair’s name and their slightly Americanized pop-rock, you could easily mistake them for American adolescent-boppers Paramore, or even our very own 90s Brit-pop band Republica making a comeback.

But this English band’s debut single ’Forget You’ must have given someone goose pimples, in order to get producer-extraordinaire on board- Robin Millar (Sade, Everything but the Girl). Or, maybe it was their unique selling point:band member Rob Meehan- the cousin of Sex Pistol’s very own Johnny Rotten- that pulled in an old favour, I guess.

Single ‘Forget You’ wades through clichéd angst filled pop-rock with the opening sentiments “I was waiting for my world to come crashing down/Now I know I’m gonna get through/I think its time I forget you”. The crashing riffs that accompany the chorus reek of Dad-rock and although singer Ellie Mules may have an inspiring howl, it’s clearly the depth within the song writing that is evidently lacking.
