Review: 'TWISTED WHEEL'
'WE ARE US'

-  Label: 'COLUMBIA (www.TheTwistedWheel.co.uk)'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '6th April 2009'

Our Rating:
Not to be confused with the legendary Manchester Northern Soul club of the same name, TWISTED WHEEL are a Manchester/ Oldham trio who have come up the hard-gigging way and seem to have a rosy future all sewn up.

'We Are Us' is the second track to be pulled from their forthcoming debut album. It was recorded in LA with hot-shot producer David Sardy (Oasis, Mazzer Manson) and already the machine's grinding into grear behind T'Wheel. They're gigging with The Enemy and have prestigious support slots logged with Paul Weller and Oasis during the summer. That, as they say, oughtta do it.

Certainly, Twisted Wheel are spiritual offspring of Oasis' 'real' rock sound. As a huge fan of the earlier Oasis albums, this is not meant in a denigrating way, it's just that 'We Are Us' might as well have been written by Noel Gallagher. It's got the sturdy power chords off pat and a hookline (“you will never stop us, 'cos you are you and we are us”) that could easily have come from a B-side to 'Wonderwall'.

Fair enough. You don't have to be Richey Edwards to have something to say and it seems Twisted Wheel have a fair arsenal of these steely anthems in reserve, so good luck to them. They are competent, powerful and in these conservative, recessionary times, will probably go down a storm.
