Titus Andronicus get straight to the point with this punchy single that clocks in at under three minutes, and it’s an unpretentious racket, trebly guitar-led punk-pop aplenty with drawling, brawling vocals and a low-tech, garage approach to production. This rough and ready style is actually quite endearing, and the vaguely Chas ‘n’ Dave piano does, curiously work rather well.
The flipside (if you get the 7” instead of the download) shows a rather more sensitive side to the band. ‘To Old Friends and New’ is a simple piano and vocal number that features some fairly wonky key playing and some boozy harmonica that gives it a real end-of-the night singalong feel.
