Eric Brace is the frontman of the acclaimed Nashville-based alt-country band Last Train Home. A former music journalist for The Washington Post, Brace collaborates here with another music journalist, Peter Cooper, senior music writer and critic for the Nashville daily, The Tennessean. Together, they blend their styles and their voices to create a unique release, "You Don't Have to Like Them Both,"
There are songs on this album the Burritos might have done if they had reached their potential, the Eagle missed their chance at, and Gordon Lightfoot would be proud of, performed at a level the Everly Brothers could have maintained if they could have kept from falling out with each other. There is one I swear Kristofferson did write but when he didn't have a hangover. The production is how ide imagine Lefty Frizzell might have wanted if he had a modern studio at his disposal, live, spacious and panoramic. Put Richard Bennett, Jon Byrd, Tim Carroll and Tim Obrien in the mix and if you don't want to own this album, then you don't love American music I swear, this is the culmination of 50 years of all that's the best of Nashville for the next decade, and that doesn't come along to often.
