Review: 'HARTY, JOSH'
'A LONG LIST OF LIES'

-  Label: 'Magnolia Recordings Company'
-  Genre: 'Alt/Country' -  Release Date: 'September 2008'-  Catalogue No: 'MRC007'

Our Rating:
JOSH HARTY began playing music in his hometown of Kindred, North Dakota when he was six years old. His music reflects a love of gospel, country, and blues. These influences blend to give a mellow, easy like Sunday morning charm.

Support slots with artists like Iris Dement, Kelly Joe Phelps, Robert Cray, and B.B. King give a clue to where he's coming from.

This is his second solo outing - with eleven crisp songs that are all done and dusted in just over half an hour.

Languid lovesick vocals, some nice slide guitar but all a bit too bland.

The pleasant but fairly anonymous quality of Harty's voice means that he's not able to stamp his personality on the songs.

There's nothing here that will disturb dinner party guests but, equally, little to get very excited about.
