This is a full year old now, but it comes from Vancouver and it sounds very fresh. Christopher Yip has made a set of nine dramatic rock pop tunes that (for me) resonate with Elephant Six's songfulness and swirl with outflows from those more knowing Fountains of Wayne.
You will hear different things. I don't know what you have been listening to lately. But it's positive, dreamy, well produced entertainment with high production values and clever, well varied arrangements. Let your young romantic loose and let it roll.
Percussion is punchy and brisk, but never bullies. The song lines and simple "love you lots" lyrics are in charge and the synths, the sweetly ringing guitars and the layers of vocal tracks ferry waves of emotion right through the album. If you imagine falling in love with a whole summer together in the mountains and on the small islands around Vancouver, with the gentle blue Pacific for company, you've got the perfect album here to remember it by.

It's like emo's grown up brother - more sex, less angst and a generally more positive approach to life, with tunes.
You can hear the whole ting on last.fm, or buy the album on CDBaby or iTunes. I think you might like it.
