He's been a busy man, has Jon Troast, performing 100 shows on consecutive nights in the first half of 2009, and recording an album inspired by the experience in the latter half of the year. The album 'Living Room' is scheduled for release on 19th January 2010.
And how will he be promoting the album? Why, by playing free gigs solidly for the first six months of the year. His subsistence living during this time will depend on sales of CDs, so you can expect he'll be playing as though his life depended on it - because it actually does.
As a taster for the album, he's putting out the track 'Living Room Tour' as a download single. His country / folk stylings might not be to everyone's taste (and I'm certainly in this category), but I have to respect the way he delivers this jaunty upbeat good-time tune, in which he recalls the couches he's kipped on and all the rest while on the road. It's fun, entertaining and honest, and as I don't have a daughter, would be all too happy to let him crash if he ever stopped by my place.
