Review: 'Husky Rescue'
'We Shall Burn Bright'

-  Label: 'Catskills Records'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '7th December 2009'

Our Rating:
Husky Rescue describe themselves as 'Finnish fairy tale folksters,' and on the strength of this single, a taster for their forthcoming album 'Ship of Light' due in January, I'd say that's a fair summary, although it doesn't fully convey the post-rock disco electro with guitars that they've packed into this truly fascinating and magical five minutes.

It may well be post-rock, but not as we know it. It begins with a piping synth playing a vaguely Cure-esque melody against a juddery stuttering drumbeat and thunderous sub-bass, before transforming into a dance number with glockenspiel and fairy lights. 'Etheral' is a chronically overused word, but it's appropriate for the vocals, which find themselves competing against a nagging and urgent guitar about halfway through.

Schizophrenic is an understatement, but it's an inspired collision. Crazy, for sure, but very cool.
