Review: 'DARK ROOM NOTES'
'LOVE LIKE NICOTINE (single)'

-  Label: 'BBE'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '8th February 2010'

Our Rating:
Dark Room Notes are a Dublin quartet who describe themselves as a combination of electro-rock and "pop culture lyrics".

In their bid for stardom the recruitment of Flood as producer is certainly a step in the right direction and their official website shows that they have T-shirts ready for the merchandise stand.

Trouble is, enthusiasm and confidence aside, this debut single from the album We Love You Dark Matter doesn't immediately convince me that they have what it takes to stand out in a highly competitive field.

It was originally released in 2007 and I assume it has been re-released now as a showcase for their appearance at the 2010 South By Southwest Festival.
The mix of synths and guitars sounds busy and intense but there's no real hook or individuality to make it memorable.

The reissue comes with muddy 'Flood Evil' cut and paste remix of the tune and there's a bonus track Electrocoin.

Boldly, the band claim to be ready for the international stage but on this evidence they have some way to go yet.
