Review: 'DAMIEN'
'CRIPPLED CUTE'

-  Label: 'Suiteside Records'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '15th October 2009'-  Catalogue No: 'SS016'

Our Rating:
There are currently six bands called Damien . This one is a guitar-bass-drums trio from Pesaro in Italy who formed in 2001.

They say they want their sound to be immediate but not to be too radio friendly and my impression is that they are not too sure whether they want to play hard rock or bright pop. The catchy single - Confidants - suggests they'd be better going for the latter although the line "we just know how much far we can get" shows that a few more English lessons wouldn't go amiss.

As influences they name check US bands like Weezer and Pavement together with British Indie bands Klaxons and Foals. I would add The Strokes and it would be easy (although pointless) to list more.

Suffice to say that although their sound is lively, tight and enthusiastic but there's nothing in these eleven tracks to distinguish what they do from so many other such bands.
