I remember once hearing an horrendous album called something like Hammond Organ Party Music in which rock classics were mercilessly massacred by instrumental cover versions. This traumatic memory was unfortunately awakened by Trummor & Orgel aka Swedish siblings Anders Ljunggren and brother Staffan.
It is not that the Hammond organ and rock music are incompatible - as Deep Purple and Pink Floyd have proved - but for me it remains an instrument that I regard with suspicion.
On this record, the ten instrumental tracks with Anders on Hammond organ and Staffan on drums blur into one and would not be out of place at a solemn religious ceremony.

The atmosphere is subdued with a relentlessly leaden pace and an absence of variety that quickly becomes monotonous.
Their sound has been classified as Jazz but could equally be defined as Post-Rock or even as vaguely Ambient. What you call it is largely irrelevant for, while the album has a certain curiosity value, it lacks any sense of vitality or charm.
Trummor & Orgel is a project that began in 2003. This is their third full length album. I, for one, won't be seeking out its predecessors.
