It's taken me a fair few listens to decide what I think of this one. 'Sundial' features some nice moments: sweeping strings and some nice chord changes evoke a certain mood, and there's a sense of epic scale, particularly when the deliberate percussion - which keeps a respectful distance - combines with the big strings and some understated brass.
However, the vocals are a little bland, and the chorus of voices are no doubt intended to give it an uplifting, anthemic quality. I suppose it does, too, but it's just that bit too obvious, a bit too MOR, a bit Embrace... or Mike and the Mechanics.
