My opinions on remixes are pretty widely stated here on Whisperin and Hollerin, and elsewhere, already, so I feel little need to cover that ground again here. So, London four-piece Foreign Office, who cite amongst their influences Talking Heads, Heaven 17 and Hot Chip serve up a remix by way of a debut. Strikes me as a bit odd, really, especially when the remix is as radical as this.
The original version of 'Leaving the House' may sound a little thin, but has a quirky, jerky indie-disco appeal, and is, y'know, ok. However - and I don't care how well respected the remixers are - the Warrior One mix strips out much of the sprit - and substance - of the original and leaves us with something that's simply bloody annoying. I'd had enough after the first couple of minutes.
