Review: 'Frequent People'
'London, Camden Barfly, 4th June 2010'

-  Genre: 'Pop'

Our Rating:
So there I was having been shopping in Camden all day and intending to catch up with friends late evening in Central London but with a bit of a dead spot in terms of what to do. Being a lover of live music I thought I'd pop in to the Camden Barfly and see what was on.

When I went in a band called Frequent People had just come on and started what I thought was going to be a run of the mill set from a run of the mill band. Their first track didn't grab me much and if I'm honest during their second track I was at the bar but then the tempo went up and the female singer (Natty?) really began to shine.

The front woman has an amazing presence and knows how to use a stage. She proved that being small in stature doesn't mean you can't punch above your weight and she really belted out with passion songs that made me want to dance! Yes me of all people, want to dance! Not every tune grabbed me as some of the tracks showed that perhaps this band has initial identity problems as they would be real electro thumping dance one minute then a bit R&B'y the next via a mid range of perfect pop. If they decide to focus on being electro pop then I can see these guys getting better and stronger all the time.

Standout track for me was 'Superhero', simple catchy club electro-house that works on every level and sure had many people smiling on the night.

The night was well attended and I arrived too late to see the support acts but I still thoroughly enjoyed myself and my only gripe really was that I wanted to carry on hearing more. But then that's the sign of a good band I guess, leaving you wanting more!

Go see them if you can, Frequent People rock!
