Review: 'MORENO, JAVIER'
'Bad Woman'

-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: 'June 2010'

Our Rating:
Bad Woman by Javier Moreno is a gem by this well seasoned Spanish singer songwriter. Centred around classical Spanish guitars and Latin rhythms we are treated to an album with a true Mediterranean airy breeze. It is slightly hot in parts as the title suggests but altogether highly pleasurable. Now Bristol based, Javier Morano has picked up some local influences and at only 21 minutes the album is regrettably almost as short as an English summer!

Track 1, Bombon, delights immediately with an instant Latin drum crack followed hungrily by a Salsa driven rhythm and a delicious melody begged to be matched by dozens of twisting feet and wide spread grins. Despite this joyous opening we are brought back down to reality with the emotive title track Bad Woman. Whilst still beautifully delivered one feels it record does not let us indulge in our opening summer fairy tale.

Salsera track three delivers inventive guitar work hitting peeks with wonderful riffs and harmonies. Lyrically, we are helped to Spanish colloquialism and the track progresses with a jazz fused piano section whilst still delivering nicely crafted Latin percussion.

Delving into the depths of Javiers emotion Cuba De Me Curazon is weightless and breezy and in Temptation, track five, Sarah Owens vocals heighten the emotion.

Javier has several shows this summer which I expect will be a delight and I am hoping to catch him at some point. I expect live, this guy will really instil the summer ethos we all desire as well as the deep emotion in the lyrics and beautiful Latin instrumentals.
