This is a handsome CD offering from a great little label. Richard Adams, of HOOD and other very respectable musical projects, wrote the tune and lyrics at the beginning of 2010, and all concerned seem to have surprised themselves by turning the creative urge into an object that many would desire, football-frenzied or not. Those who listened might even go through the very pleasant experience without noticing the footballish samples among the wistful sense of permanently lost dreams. There is a very moving instrumental version on the bench. An additional song soars in attendance: "Red Kite", marks a return to our northern skies of the noble carrion bird of that name.

Yearning and mournful resignation, are the themes. Triumphalism and hubris have been wisely avoided. My personal World Cup 2010 Top Tip if you care more for music than goals. My press copy arrived with the optimistic prediction that England would play a quarter final match, to be lost only by dint of penalty kicks.
