Review: 'Dominant Legs'
'Young at Love and Life'

-  Label: 'Lefse Records'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '17th August 2010'

Our Rating:
Dominant Legs are Hannah Hunt and Ryan Lynch, who I'm also reliably informed plays guitar for Girls. I assume that's the name of another band, rather than a specific description of what he does, because I've never known anyone apply a gender-specific policy on who they'll play for. They're due to support Mystery Jets in September, and Young at Love and Life is their debut EP.

Those are the facts: now for the opinion. I really don't rate Mystery Jets. They do nothing for me. Ok, that's not true, they annoy me considerably. It's not just the music, either, it's the look.

Dominant Legs don't sound like Mystery Jets, which is a plus, but the four tracks here don't do anything for me either. They're equally divided between whimsical limp-wristed indie-pop ('Young at Love and Life' and 'About My Girls'), which is wet and floppy in an insipid 80s sort of a way, and whimsical acoustic orientated indie-folk ('Clawing Out at the Walls' and 'Run Like Hell for Leather') which is just kinda... meh.
