The Following Announcement are the latest in a line of bands from the UK to take a shot for punk-rock's crown. Ultimately, this is far more pop than it is punk but the band show a surefire skill for a huge chorus and a powerful hook.
The band's PR told me repeatedly to listen saying that I would love the chorus and, frankly, the persistence paid off - I've not had this song out of my head ever since. Brimming with the immediacy of Blink 182, Mest and Simple Plan tied into the British bounce of Twenty Twenty, a band they toured with earlier this year, the band are truly onto something if they can up their consistency. While the B-sides aren't bad, the vocals go a little too far into USA category and - as tempting as that can be - it's not going to win any fans in the 16+ category unless it sounds a little more home countries or, well, a little more real.

With a little work on the lyrics and a little work on remembering to sing in the right accent this band could genuinely make a splash. They have a hard working team behind them and are a hard working act themselves, booking themselves onto tours and getting themselves out there in any way they can, so they deserve your support.
