Po-mo genre hybridity has reached a new level of insanity with the arrival of Escort Knight, purveyors of 'indie house.' Actually, 'I Don't Know Your Name' isn't nearly as bad as one might expect. Perhaps it's because the 'house' element takes very much a subservient role to the indie aspect of the sound. The result, then, is an electro-indie mid-tempo effort that really doesn't do much to distinguish itself. Sure, it's nicely polished, but there's no much beneath the surface, and even a couplet like 'we're getting along but my bladder is bursting / and when I get back to you my chance has been wasted' can't salvage it from floppy funk mediocrity.
Virtual flipside 'Hole in the Heart' is really only notable for its chorus. I suspect many working in the medical profession, not to mention pedants like me, would find fault in the claim that 'A hole in the heart is better than a hole in the head / cause you can't feel love when you're dead.' You probably wouldn't want either, of course - and similarly, the chances are you need this single like a hole in the head - or the heart.
