Review: 'Pocket Satellite'
'Paper Aviator'

-  Genre: 'Folk' -  Release Date: '17th January 2011'

Our Rating:
When I say that Pocket Satellite play nice, pretty tunes, I don't mean that they’re in any way insipid or twee. Rather, there's a heart-warming joy, and even a sense of charming innocence that permeates the six songs on 'Paper Aviator,' their second EP.

Each nugget of chamber-pop folk is perfectly formed, and lifts the spirits like the first warming rays of sun at the start of spring, when buds are just beginning to swell and you wake up to realise that winter is finally over. From the busy, breezy 'Man on a Boat' to the reflective, melodic 'What About Snowglobes?' via the skiffle-folk-pop of 'Fake Sun,' 'Paper Aviator' is very much about fun. Uplifting and dainty, the songs are the joyous and joy-filled, and also beautifully arranged.

Pocket Satellite are a breath of fresh air, and 'Paper Aviator' is a sonic happy-pill. Just what the doctor ordered!
