Our Rating:
Credit where it's due, Corrugated Tunnel's 'Minor Obsessions' isn't your average dance album. Not only does it incorporate a range of styles, spanning house, techno and electro, but some of the material is of a rare quality.

There's an array of textures and tempos, from the sweeping stadium ambient groove of 'Festival' to the strangely compelling foghorn synth of 'Ambidextrous.' Former single 'Remedy for my Soul,' as one of the few vocal tracks and one of the more conventionally structured and overtly 'pop' songs on the album is a clear standout and is strategically placed just after the midway point.

With its smooth swathes of rich and textured sounds, it's an album that's very easy to get carried away to. The beats push the track along without being excessively dominant, and the overall sound is balanced and pushes different buttons at different times while being sequenced in a way that makes it feel like a unified whole rather than a mere collection of numbers slung together.

Not my usual sort of thing by a million miles, but 'Minor Obsessions' just works.
