Our Rating:
On a bitterly cold January morning, all doom and gloom, with the rain pouring down and the skies overcast and foreboding, I listened to this, the latest offering from Boston based The Hush Now, and within the three minutes and six seconds of the song, was smiling again, and looking forward to summer.

The band have been around for about three years now, after front man Noel Kelly, hooked up with Barry Marino on drums, after a few personnel changes, the band now consists of Noel and Barry, with Pat MacDonald on bass, John Millar on keyboards and Adam Quane on lead guitar.

The song is bright and poppy with overtones of cocktail jazz. There is a marvellous horn solo in there as well. Lyrically, it’s hard to find anything to match the sheer zest and enthusiasm that shines through like the sun breaking through the clouds.

“Dream of long siestas in paradise/ Feel the swell of waves at your back/ See the girls walk by with their olive skin/ On a flight of freedom tonight.”

There’s little more that one can really say about this, as it’s the perfect track to lift the winter blues. Aside from this, those nice chaps have made it available completely free as a download from their website. This is one of the best New Year bargains, so be sure to check it out. You won’t be disappointed.

Available as a fre download from The Hush Now website
