Review: 'MacGOWAN;MARY'
'Morning Glory'

-  Label: 'Self Released'
-  Genre: 'Folk' -  Release Date: '2010'

Our Rating:
Mary McGowen lives in Michigan.

She likes to watch ducks on the lake near her home.

She writes poetry, sings and plays piano and ukulele.

She has some good musician friends who helped her make this LP. It is her first.

She writes songs that are part Americana and part Bluegrass country. The words to her songs are quirky and very simple but are for grown-ups - Why Don't You Sleep With me is about sex.

The name of her record (and the song with the same title) is about a colourful flower that is open in the morning but curls up and closes during the rest of the day. The flower symbolises love in vain. The last song on the album is called Cry For You and is about the same thing.

Mary wishes she were thinner and cooler and misses her Dad but this is a happy record.
