Not one to stand still, Leeds-based singer-songwriter, Daniel Pearson, has barely had chance to catch his breath after a successful 2010. Debut album, "Satellites", rightly garnered praise for its easy on the ear country-tinged pop, but if there was a criticism to be made, it was that Pearson sometimes wore his influences too much on his sleeve. New single, "Wishing Well", is the sound of an artist determined to move on. As clear as it is that Pearson is a fan of the classic singer-songwriter, it's equally clear he's a fan of bands like Gaslight Anthem and The National and is going to be drawing on a wider range of inspirations from this point onwards. Expansive and much more epic in its ambition, this first fruit of recent recording sessions has everything thrown at it with electric guitars, strings and gospel melodies creating Pearson's own anthemic wall of sound. "Wishing Well" is a triumph and sets things up nicely for an exciting 2011 from an artist to keep an eye out for.
