Review: 'MILK, THE'
'(All I Wanted Was) Danger'

-  Label: 'Naim Edge'
-  Genre: 'Soul' -  Release Date: '28th March 2011'-  Catalogue No: 'NAIMCS160'

Our Rating:
Having sold out a headline show at HMV's 'Next Big Thing' event at the Barfly, it would seem that a fair few people are going to be excited about this debut single from The Milk. The unimaginative monkier belies the band's gutsy brand of groovesome funk/soul action.

The opening lines are delivered in such as fashion as to sound like 'There once was a day when I was so damn horny / I was so dipped out I started to shit the floor'. Less amusingly, but more fittingly, 'horny' is in fact down-hearted, which in turn rhymes with 'started'. But 'Danger' is a song about picking yourself up and living life to the full. Catchy as hell, The Milk kick Gnarls Barkley into touch with their feelgood danceable soul.

Flipside 'Dynamite' speaks for itself, with a classic Motown sound and boisterous brass in abundance. Not my usual bag by any means, but this is pretty hard to resist.
