You have got to love the people who dont think as they are told...sings RJ Thompson on his upcoming new single A Better Life. It is not an endorsement of a rebellious lifestyle, more so an appreciative nod to a generation of people and musicians who are thinking outside of the box in an effort to achieve their goals.
RJ, 25, is only now rising to prominence on the UK music scene as he spent the early part of his career learning his trade. After setting up his own record label Chicken Wire Records in 2003 (on which he has released two albums and one EP of self-penned songs to date), he has spent large chunks of his time on the road. Tours and supports with Gabriella Cilmi, Sandi Thom, Lauren Pritchard, and legendary artists The Proclaimers, John Mayall, and Midge Ure have seen him build up a following of dedicated fans, including world renowned guitar companies Fender and Taylor, who offered him artist endorsement deals recently.
Having spent large parts of 2010 holed up in the studio, RJ finished his upcoming new EP at Abbey Road Studios, London. It was great...says RJ...We worked with an engineer called Geoff Pesche who has had a hand in some of the most popular recordings of the last 10 years from Coldplay and Gorillaz to Kylie. It is not every day you get the chance to work with people like that, in a place so renowned, so it was a great experience!
