I should stop reading press releases. They bring out my cynical side, and all to often prepare me to be underwhelmed. On the other hand, when I read that North London punk rock quartet Deeds of the Nameless are 'a proper rock band with balls-out, amps up, screaming anthems to mosh to' I was sceptical, specially as their chosen producer is noted for his work with the likes of Keane and Adele - acts hardly known for their rockingness. But even I wasn't braced for this mid-paced plodder. Clocking in at over five minutes, it's hardly punk and it's not exactly rock, either, sounding more like the Foo fighters covering a Bon Jovi ballad than any of their preferred points of comparison. It just never really seems to get going.

As for the B-side, a 'rock' cover of Jay-Z's 'Run this Town', it's as poor as it is predictable, and the less said about the 'remix' featuring Dabbla, Jam Baxter, Dubbledge and Stig of the Dump that sounds like Linkin Park on a bad day and incudes the lines 'feelin' like a winner, got a bellyful of dinner, got a pocket full of money, no you can't think that I'm funny', the better.
