Review: 'Ruins of Earth'
'Misguided Lifeforms'

-  Genre: 'Thrash Metal' -  Release Date: '8th August 2011'

Our Rating:
So the first singer starts up and sounds like Beavis (of Beavis & Butthead, that is) screeching along to some thrash metal parody, then the other singer takes a turn and it's the same unintelligible throat-ripping only an octave or so lower and sounding like a wounded bear. And so they tag-team their way through the track, alternating the high and low shouting, while the guitar, bass and drums all rumble on like heavy metal thunder before a really OTT guitar solo precedes the obligatory tempo change that brings it to a half-speed crawl to close. That's 'Funeral', and depressingly, it's the best of the four tracks on here.

It's a pity, because 'Ruins' have a solid, bottom-heavy sound with a powerful, overloading bass sound that's full and dense, but the lack of imagination (check the titles to get an idea of what I'm driving at: 'The Wait'; 'Become Inhuman'; 'An Unreal Entity') and the atrocious vocals really do mar the enjoyment.
