Review: 'DIBBLE, MATT'
'Daytime TV'

-  Label: 'Self Released'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: 'October 2011'

Our Rating:
Matt Dibble is a music graduate from York University who also took a Jazz post graduate course at Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

The jazzy leaning is very evident on a soft saxophone instrumental, Miles To Go, which is presumably a homage to Miles Davis.

On the other nine songs Dibble sings and plays keyboards, clarinet and supplies extra percussion. Female vocal support is provided by Kerry Andrew. Other musicians play flute, flugelhorn and strings. Needless to say, this is no rock'n'roll album.

Instead, Dibble dabbles in a form of soft pop songs which is tailor-made for a Radio 2 play list.

He is so gentle on the ear , you feel like being gentle with him in return but you have to be prepared for some very lightweight material indeed.

The laid back mood is briefly broken by a blast of jazz funk called Yeah Yeah Yeah, but with the sole lyrics being "Yeah Yeah Yeah - everybody" it is hardly enough to get the pulse racing.

It's all very domestic, introspective and passionless. "I never have the need to venture out my own front door" , Dibble opines leisurely on the title track but if ever there was an album that proved the virtues of getting out more, this is it.
