Review: 'Adkins, Monty'
'Fragile. Flicker. Fragment'

-  Album: 'Fragile. Flicker. Fragment' -  Label: 'Audiobulb Records'
-  Genre: 'Ambient' -  Release Date: '25th April 2011'-  Catalogue No: 'AB035'

Our Rating:
‘Fragile. Flicker. Fragment.’ The title is fitting for the soft, warm ambience of Monty Adkins’ fifth solo album, which features broad, delicate watercolour washes of sound, with long, deliberate notes that taper in and out, and occasional chimes of the most soothing sort. There are no angles or corners to be found here, nothing that creates tension.

‘Ode’ introduces a mournful accordion, and brings an air of melancholy to the otherwise dreamy, fluffy-cloud dotted blue sky soundscape, but the overall flow of the album is seamless, making for a smooth and effortless listen that wraps the listener in rich, textured layers of sound.
