Review: 'TV BUDDHAS'
'HELLO TO LONELINESS (7" single)'

-  Label: 'STAATSAKT'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '19th November 2011'

Our Rating:
The single is all black and white. The cover depicts an outline drawing of a mother and child at the checkout of a supermarket. A thought bubble emanates from the daughter and hello to loneliness is written inside it. The tracks themselves are short, tinged with a melancholic sadness and to the point. This is post-punk heavily influenced by The Ramones. It’s lo-fi garage guitar pop coming from a three piece and everyone knows you can’t beat a good three piece. The dynamic is further intensified by the fact that two of them are married and the other one...is tagging along.

It’s cascading wall of noise with spunky lead lines. The vocals remind me of someone I can’t think who, maybe Win Butler on 40 B&H a day? The B side Just Another Day In My Head I think is a tad better. There are good songwriting skills at work here. It’s well constructed deconstructed power pop punk and it does not hang around long enough to bug me. One could argue, does the world need this all over again but damn I quite like it.
