Review: 'new god'
'Motorcar'

-  Album: 'Motorcar' -  Label: 'The Royal Army Recording Co.'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '29th November 2011'

Our Rating:
Hmm. Bouncy vocal harmonies that often follow an echo / call-and-response pattern and an indie-folk feel that owes a debt to both the Beatles and the Beach Boys, as well as countless anonymous 90s post-grunge indie rock bands.

It’s ok, although nothing like the kind of music the surrealist collage artwork on the album’s cover suggests. Perhaps that’s the point. Frankly, I find it hard to care less. There are a couple of songs that make a half-decent stab at breezy guitar pop, the likes of which the Foo Fighters knocked out on their debut album, and some interesting use of brass, but there’s too much farting about and noodling, an excess of filler and an insufficient sense of direction and focus to really merit a second listen.
