‘Poststop’ is essentially a document: a document of a two-day workshop held in Porto, Portugal, in October 2010 as part of the Futureplaces Digital Media Festival. Drawing together a disparate array of field recordings and other material, reconfigured and mashed up and subsequently performed as a live concert, ‘Poststop’ is at once fluid and formless, while at the same time demonstrative of some highly intuitive musicianship.
It perhaps goes without saying that ‘Poststop’ contains some weird shit, alongside some stuff that’s simply weird, and yet more stuff that’s simply shit. At its worst, there are long passages of dull, monotonous and pretentious ‘music’ that can readily be written off as ‘failed’ experimentation, but at its best, ‘Poststop’ is atmospheric, unusual and accomplished.
