A sparse, distant piano slowly fades in on ‘Stunden I’ and marks the beginning of a meandering instrumental musical journey. Smooth pulses and undulations dominate this understated, atmospheric album.
It’s hardly surprising, given that its creators Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Stefan Schneider are old hands at this. Roedelius, as a member of Cluster, collaborated with Brian Eno in the 70s, and between them, their resumes include not only Cluster but also Harmonia, To Rococo Rot, Kreidler and Mapstation.
The result is an understated yet accomplished set of Kraftwerkian electronica. Good stuff.
