Review: 'SILVER ROCKET'
'Old Fashioned'

-  Label: 'Mexican Standoff Records/afmuisc'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: 'December 2011'

Our Rating:
Silver Rocket are a trio from Ferrara, Italy who sing in English and are fully immersed in the gothic pessimism of British post-punk and the studied boredom of post-Velvets stateside bands.

Bruno the singer has nailed the arrogant American drawl perfectly and every track will remind you vaguely of something else. It's not called old-fashioned for nothing.

They may sing that The Worst Is Yet To Come but the novelty cover of Frank Sinatra's That's Life proves that they are not as pessimistic as their heroes.

What they have going for them is they are not really trying anything different, they're just out to pay homage to the underground/indie rock sound as accurately and unpretentiously as they can.

Like a karaoke band with their own songs.
