Review: 'Cold in Berlin'
'...and the darkness bangs'

-  Genre: 'Punk/New Wave' -  Release Date: '5th March 2012'

Our Rating:
On their first post-album release, Cold in Berlin continue to mine that dark, jagged post-punk seam they plundered and tore through with hellish fury on ‘Give Me Walls’. ‘...and the darkness bangs’ shows they’ve lost none of their abrasive qualities, but does reveal a more atmospheric side to the band as they take the foot off the gas just enough to allow the smoke to drift through the suburban wasteland they’ve made their home.

‘...and the darkness bangs’ features a fractured guitar that trails across a jittery beat before bursting into a tumultuous chorus, while ‘The Lie’ is full-throttle old-school goth-punk, Banshees style, only heavier, angrier and scarier.

The Heretics remix of ‘...and the darkness bangs’ will appeal to the darkwave crew, and wraps up a release that suggests that rather than exhausting their force with their debut, Cold in Berlin look set to go from strength to strength.
